If suppose I want to select counties based on their FIPS, e.g., Dallas County has FIPS 48113. How can I select using select by attributes query?

Thanks again,Virginia

Good Afternoon,

I would like to request assistance. I want to extract census block groups (yellow polygons) that touches the 1/2 mile buffer (purple polygon). What is the tool I can use?

Thank you,

Virginia Sapkota

There are several ways to do this. Here's probably the easiest workflow:

With both layers loaded into ArcGIS, use Select By Location Using Select By Location—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop

Export the resulting selected information from the Census Block groups to a new feature class.

Chris Donohue, GISP
