topic Allocate geodatabase name to containing features KML to Layer in ModelBuilder Questions

Hi and thank you for reading my question.

In short, I need to apply the geodatabase name (the KML file) to the feature created (Polyline) in the geodatabase when using the "KML to Layer" tool. I am using the latest version of ArcGIS PRO (v2.5.0)

I have a situation where I need to convert a large set of KML files to Shapefiles for further post calculations in modelbuilder. When I run the tool (KML to Layer) a geodatabase is created with the name (example: "G34_Arrival") that I need the feature to be instead of the default "polyline".

Is there a way in Modelbuilder to adopt the geodatabase Name "GR_34Arrival" as the features name? I can hopefully include the additional steps in model builder.

(About the KML file - it will always only contain a polyline so no need to worry that other features would have the same name.)

Regards,

LJ

What you ask can be easily done in modelbuilder.

You can use the model only tool parse path to extract out the file name and then feed that into the rename tool and

connect all this up to your model.
