Adding Input Field to Field Map issue

Something wrong when I select manually match field for an output field.

I select a source for a field, e.g. DIA. Then I click OK to save as usual...nothing special.

Then I open Append block again to add another field, but previous insert was gone...

Anyone has this issue?

THis happens all the time. Seems like it works better if field names are the same. The even more frustrating situation is that sometimes it works. THen, next time I run the model, it does not work.
This has costed me hours of work.

It's a known bug.

This is what Esri Support tell me about this problem:

#BUG-000111603 In ModelBuilder, the Append tool setting for the 'Use the Field Map to reconcile schema differences' option does not preserve the field mapping selected
