I am new to this forum, but I've used ArcGIS when they first offered 3.3. I guess I'm a dinosaur! I'm currently using 10.8. I'd like to migrate to ArcGIS Online, but I'm reluctant because I would have to also purchase an updated computer, and experience one more learning curve. In spite of my GIS ignorance, I am far ahead of my forestry colleagues with respect to ArcGIS. There would be so much to gain from going online, especially with the LIDAR, but I'm towards the evening portion of my career.

Hi John,

Welcome!

You probably don't need to upgrade your machine to use ArcGIS Online. There are a bunch of free resources to help you learn:

https://learn.arcgis.com/en/paths/essential-arcgis-online-skills/

https://learn.arcgis.com/en/paths/modern-gis-sharing-presenting-spatial-information/

If you want to use ArcGIS Pro you may need a newer machine.

https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/get-started/arcgis-pro-system-requirements.htm

Best,

Bob
