DDP Name Field Resets When Reopening MXD

I have ddp setup to run off of a field with coded value domains and it works fine, but then when I save an reopen the document the name field resets to another field. Has anybody else experienced this?

Could you explain how your domains are set up? Do you have duplicate values for this in your feature class? Also, is this what you are using as your sort field, or do you only use it for your name field? Any further details on how you set this up would be helpful.

I tried to repro with a text field coded value domain. Once with all unique values and once with duplicate values. Each time I opened the MXD, the DDP field was the same.

Please provide a map package if possible. Send to jbarrette@esri.com.

It must have been an issue with the MXD, because after rebuilding the MXD I no longer have the problem. Is there a way to have the coded value be displayed as dynamic text. E.g. my coded value could be A1 which corresponds to Apple, and I want the Apple to be displayed as dynamic text and not A1.
