Label Neighboring Adjacent Data Driven Pages

I have downloaded and used the arcpy.mapping Calculate Adjacent Fields script to calculate the adjacent neighboring pages for my page index. On my layout, I have inserted dynamic text that labels the neighboring adjacent pages. However, on pages that do not have an adjacent neighbor, the dynamic text that is returned back is "[empty]". How can I change the value that is returned to not show any text at all?

I have attached a word document with a brief tutorial to create adjacent map labels for data driven pages by simply using polygon boundary labeling and a few other tricks to get a nice result without going through the hassle of having to add additional fields to your index grid.

If the tutorial isn't clear enough, let me know.
