I have a coordinate system of WGS 84 Zone 38N (I am in the R latitude zone). I want to go to 785292.427E, 3227549.583N. What do I put in the locate search box to get the map to zoom to this location? I have tried:

38R 3227549.583, 785292.4

38N 3227549.583, 785292.4

38NR 3227549.583, 785292.4

...and the reverse (with the easting first).

Yes the dataframe has this as the CS.
