Within the Community Maps datamodel, building footprints can be classified as general, airport, commercial, community center, cultural, education, government, industrial, recreation, religious, transportation, medical and hotel. In designing the model, the number of classifications were kept to a minimum in order to better facilitate the wide range of data attribution of contributor�??s data. The current classifications were identified to be used most often. Because the Community Maps are used as basemaps, the number of different color variation and symbols were also considered and kept to a small number. The agriculture, mobile home and residential (other) should be classified as �??general�??. If you find you need these symbolized differently, the Community Maps team can certainly assist with a recommended symbol designation.
