How to best symbolize two point layers on one map

Hello,

Please see the attached map. For security, only the point layers are visible.

The small dots represent customers. The large asterisks represent WiFi hotspots.

As you can see, the symbology is muddled and it's difficult to differentiate the layers.

I've tried changing the symbols of each layer, but the problem persists.

I've tried converting the customer points to raster, but the result does not represent the data meaningfully.

The point density and kernel density tools offer possible solutions, but I'd prefer to not have to represent the customer data that way.

What other methods can be used to display two point layers on one map so that the data of each layer is easily viewed and understood?

Hi Shawn,

You can try

1) Define two distinct color ramps for the two layers.

2) Keep Customer layer above the WiFi_Hotspot layer.

* You can also play with the transparency of layers.
