Print to PDF Error - complicated map

Hi everyone,

I am trying to print to PDF and am experiencing errors and if possible would like some advice.

So, some background - there are 5 A0 I am trying to print, all have multiple data frames, with many layers on.

I have managed to "Export" to PDF but I think for some reason (logic in the back of my head somewhere), that the quality when Exporting to PDF is not as good as when I print to PDF using Adobe PDF printer.

Question 1: Is that correct to say? What is the difference between Exporting and Printing to PDF?

So, in my attempt to print to PDF, it seems to work for quite some time, and then this error appears:

Question 2: I understand that this error is because the map is so complicated with too many points etc in - can anyone explain further, and perhaps if I can get around it?

I am now trying another print to PDF where I have removed all the groups of layers so I just have a long list, but I am kind of shooting in the dark as to trying to resolve the issue.

Any advice?!
