Hi,
I'm having an issue with leader lines crossing the label text. Is there a setting in the new Maplex engine that will eliminate this? I'd prefer not to convert all my labels to GDB annotation. See attached image for example.

Thanks,
Tim

P.S. I'm using v10.1

Hi Tim,

Unfortunately this is a recurring problem which we have patched a number of times, but have been unable to completely resolve. A fairly substantial rewrite is required to fix it and hopefully we will be in a position to do this soon.

In the meantime, have you tried increasing the leader tolerance, or turning the leader off completely? Do all your labels look like this, or do some labels in the class have a larger offset from the point?

Yes, this is a real problem. I think it looks awful. Here is an example.

I am using 10.2 with Maplex engine enabled.

Has anyone had success managing the crossing leaders? I'm looking for a good guide to share with others.

I have always had trouble with them, early in Desktop and now in Pro. I've tried the different Callout and Position settings tricks with varying results, but nothing seems to work well with the really high density stuff.
