I am running ArcGIS 9.3.1. In the past, I have had no troubles generating a grid around a Layout (map). On this occasion, my lats and longs are present and correct but the labels are a number only. How do I get back the degree sign and E or N, as appropriate?

Further

is the data and or data frame defined with a geographic coordinate system? perhaps, the units aren't known, so you could check the data frame properties just in case... don't have the 9.3 help files any more but similiar situations apply in the newer versions

Dan

I do appreciate your help with this, and on previous occasions. The Map is set in GCS_GDA 94 co-ordinate system, the Display setting is Decimal Degrees and the ……..Aaah! the grid I made was a Measured Grid when what I needed was a Graticule. Problem solved, it seems

Many thanks and best wishes

Walter
