Like most people I'd prefer my maps to have North facing up, so I want to create a series of map books following Transmission lines but I don't like the results I get with either Strip Map or Grid Index.

I want a standard north and for the data driven pages to follow the line with the least amount of pages possible with minimal overlap. So basically the best of both.

Smallworld has offered this feature for years (also with an option to auto-orientate Portrait/Landscape for individual pages based on the lines direction for that page) so it seems ESRI should have a similar feature

How many maps are you generating, David? I generally edit the grid index feature class manually to suite my needs, but I realize that might not be possible when you have a ton of pages.

101 Mapbooks and counting - probably about 10-20 pages each
