Hi,

I am trying to merge a number of shapefiles in Arc Map 10.2

The shapefiles show yearly layers of mangrove growth - so each layer is coloured thereby allowing me to see the progressive growth.

When i merge these files to create one shapefile - the image appears all one colour i.e. i cannot see the different colours which indicate yearly growth.

Could somebody please explain how i can merge the files but keep the layers coloured.

Many Thanks,

Emma,

your best bet is to create a geodatabase in catalog and load each shapefile into the feature class you create. If all your fields are the same for each shapefile, then use one of your shapefiles as your feature class template.

If it is your first time using a geodatabase, see if you can find someone to walk you through it.
