Hello.... Just wanted to share the basic calculation method for converting DMS to DD and vice versa

Sexagesimal (base 60) system
Degrees, Minutes, Seconds (DMS) e.g. 142° 32’ 23”
1 degree = 60 minutes
1 minute = 60 seconds.

Converting DMS 150° 11’ 29” to DD coordinates
= 150 + (11/60) + (29/3600)
= 150.1914

Explanation - 150° 11’ 29”
= D + (M/60) + (S/3600)
= 150 + (11/60) + (29/3600)
= 150 + 0.1834+ 0.008

= 150.1914

Converting Decimal degrees to Degrees, minutes, seconds

150.1914
.1914x60 = 11.484
.484x60 = 29

150° 11’ 29”

Hope this will help to understand the logic behind the conversion.

Thanks
Samriddhi
