topic GIS, BIM, and Digital Twins in practice, what’s really working? in GIS Life Discussions

<LI-SPOILER>
There’s a lot of talk about GIS, BIM, digital twins, and AI all converging, but I’m wondering how mature that really is in day-to-day work. If you’re in infrastructure, AEC, utilities, or public-sector projects, are you seeing this integration happen in a meaningful way? How is GIS being used differently today compared to five years ago? Is it influencing planning and decisions, or mostly supporting visualization and reporting? And where do things still break down when GIS needs to connect with BIM models, field data, laser scans, or operations platforms? I’m more interested in real experiences than big-picture claims. Curious to hear what’s actually working and what still feels disconnected.
</LI-SPOILER>
