Ensuring that Personal and File Geodatabases are kept in sync when updated daily?

We wish to link an ESRI geodatabase to an ‘.mdb’ database. The ‘mdb’ database is updated daily. We would like to make sure that the ‘.gdb’ is up to date whenever updates are made to the ‘.mdb’.

We wish to use this ‘.gdb’ as a template for ARCMap workspaces, where all the geoscientists have access to up-to-date information. Currently many geoscientists in the organization have out-of-date files they are using on their personal machines. Currently people work from their own workspaces (.mxd), where it is never known if they have access to all the pertinent files, or if the files they have in their workspaces are up-to-date.

We wish to have the changing ‘.mdb’ database regularly ‘merged’ into the gdb. Additionally, other files (raster images, tenement polygons, etc) are desired to be automatically updated into the ‘.gdb’ as changes occur to the master files.

Normally, one would suggest the implementation of an centralized enterprise geodatabase where every user can have access to the latest version of the data. Esri has moved away from using personal geodatabases (.mdb) due to the limitations of the database format.

Do you happen to know if there is a way to directly merge an 'acquire' database with an Enterprise Geodatabase? Ideally, we would like to facilitate the direct transfer between these two databases, without having to export the 'acQuire' database first into a .mdb. Is there another intermediatory step to take for ArcSDE to understand the database format? Perhaps using FME? Ot does ArcSDE have this capability? Cheers, Ed

GeoNet is driven by Jive, so if you can't find something specific in terms of documentation for using GeoNet, you can fall back to the Jive documentation: Jive 7.0 Community User Documentation - Getting More Out of Content. There are some minor differences between the Jive documentation and GeoNet implementation, but overall the Jive documentation can be helpful as an additional source of information.

re: the duplicate posts. As Dan mentioned, posting multiple doesn't help get answer any faster (and confuses the issue many times), but you can easily tag other spaces (or people) with the @ and the space/person. That will give it more exposure. Keep in mind that most responses do come from the user community, however some esri staff also monitor and will comment if/when they can.
