Since I am not concerned about the density of points, what is needed for a normal heat map, but instead the number of people at the trailheads, this is not a traditional trailhead. I have tried to create a grid of hexagons and use spatial join but this does not give me the results I am looking for. The only way that I have come up with is to use the graduated symbols.
