Layer to KML tool: polygons within polygon not working

So guys, I've produced a polygon layer which has empty spaces within it. In this image from my polygon in ArcMap, you see the southern area contains 'holes.'

My goal is to export this boundary polygon as a KML and make it publically available to be seen on Google Maps. However, when I export it to KML (using the 'Layer to KML' tool), and then upload it to my Google Map, the inner 'holes' in the polygon are gone.

Notice the large black area: see how it has been totally filled-in?

Any ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it?
