Can you provide a link showing more information on Set Password for tools? I cannot seem to find information on this in the Help. I really like this idea, but is this only for models? I have this grayed out for my script tool and I own both tools and they on the C drive.

I like the Set Password idea, because I wouldn't want someone changing my python code or modifying my model.

So testing on a copy of my model, I Set Password and asked someone to try to see if they can sabotage it. He basically right-clicked on it, went to properties and deleted my Parameters. So I had to go in and fix it. 😞

Another co-worker just right-click my model and deleted it. Wow, great...

Okay, so I am still all for the Set Password, but because I cannot find info on this, I am assuming this is in place to make sure that the tools are protected and that only the owner of the tools can modify it.

If so, then can the Set Password be set to lock tools from any property modifications (accessible from the Properties option), locked from changing the item description/documentation, and of course from deletion? Also in the future, I would like something that prevents users from deleting toolsets or toolboxes if a tool has a password.

Thanks 😉

So testing on a copy of my model, I Set Password and asked someone to try to see if they can sabotage it. He basically right-clicked on it, went to properties and deleted my Parameters. So I had to go in and fix it. 😞

You mean you didn't make a backup of your toolbox before you asked someone to sabotage it? That's some hubris!

If so, then can the Set Password be set to lock tools from any property modifications (accessible from the Properties option), locked from changing the item description/documentation, and of course from deletion? Also in the future, I would like something that prevents users from deleting toolsets or toolboxes if a tool has a password.

This isn't an issue with ArcGIS. It's in your file system. If you make the toolsets and toolbox read only to your users in the file system, they will not be able to modify the toolsets or the toolbox.
