    <description>&lt;P&gt;I have a gdb of 50 polygon fcs named based on HUC # abbreviation - ie: HUC_002, HUC_003, etc.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have another gdb of rasters also based on the same state abbreviation - ie:&amp;nbsp; Pluvial_002, Pluvial_003.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I want to create a short scripts that loops through the second gdb and extracts each of the rasters by the features as masks&amp;nbsp; and output to a new gdb. For example, I want to take the raster named pluvial_002 and grab the fc named HUC_002 and use it to extract the raster by mask and output it to floodplain.gdb. Attached is my script - it runs for 2 seconds and says it's complete, but outputs nothing.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;TIA!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;LI-CODE lang="markup"&gt;#fgdb of rasters being clipped

      <description>&lt;P&gt;It looks ok, but this time the logic for comparison has changed from being what was before the '_' to what's after it, right?&amp;nbsp; That's probably meaning nothing is in the dictionary.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;try changing the 3rd line as indicated below.:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;LI-CODE lang="python"&gt;for source_rast in source_rasts:
    for clipping_fc in clipping_fcs:
        if source_rast.split("_")[1] == clipping_fc.split("_")[1]:&lt;/LI-CODE&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;also for your&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;LI-CODE lang="markup"&gt;ExtractByMask()&lt;/LI-CODE&gt;&lt;P&gt;I'm unsure how you've done your imports, so maybe&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;LI-CODE lang="markup"&gt;arcpy.ExtractByMask()&lt;/LI-CODE&gt;&lt;P&gt;Also print statements are invaluable for troubleshooting to see what's happening along the script, and where things stop/or you can see a list isn't being populated etc.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Print out all the list and dictionary being created and you'll have a much better idea of what's going on.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;getting confused as to why you need to do the dictionary thing, why not do the extractbymask if a match is found, basically following this idea&lt;/P&gt;&lt;LI-CODE lang="python"&gt;for source_raster in source_rasters:
    for clipping_fc in clipping_fcs:
        if source_raster.split("_")[-1] == clipping_fc.split("_")[-1]:
            source_raster_path = os.path.join(source_fgdb, source_raster)
            clipping_fc_path = os.path.join(clipping_fgdb, clipping_fc)
            ExtractByMask(source_raster_path, clipping_fc_path)
            OutExtractByMask.save(out_raster_path)&lt;/LI-CODE&gt;&lt;P&gt;The dictionary is only useful if you plan to reuse it later.&amp;nbsp; You can keep the dictionary but do the extraction while you are there so you don't have to go&amp;nbsp; back and do the match thing.&amp;nbsp; (ps... I didn't pay much attention to the name matching so check!)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Thank you! It got mad because I didn't define OutExtractByMask, so I did it below, and it then output the first pair to my default gdb with that name, and stopped. I feel like I'm so close.... something to do with how I'm doing the extraction to make sure it repeats itself.....&lt;/P&gt;&lt;LI-CODE lang="python"&gt;for source_raster in source_rasters:

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Thank you. I was able to figure out the issue in defining things that weren't defined! What is the general rule for the matching of things before and after the "_"? If I'm looking to match string before the _ then it's [1] but after it is [-1]? Is there ever a [0]?&lt;/P&gt;</description>
