This is one of the limitations of &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;A href="http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.2/index.html#//002100000040000000"&gt;64 bit geoprocessing.&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;If you launch 32-bit Python and import arcpy, these metadata tools will work fine.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
