Large space on data driven page attribute

I am working with a data driven page document and keep getting a large space before an easement ID field. The attached image shows the field code as well as how the field outputs. Is there any way to reduce the space between "Easement Area" and the "1" on the screen that I have, or is it due to the length of the field?

Old question, but I had it, too. Luckily, someone else knew, and helped me out.

To solve:

Open attribute table for layer which naming scheme comes from

Right-click the column header for the naming column

Select Properties

There is a small box next to 'Numeric' - Click that

That opens another dialogue box

In that dialogue box under 'alignment' select 'left'

Voila. Hope this saves someone a headache in the future!
