      <title>Invalid ecp file when updating my enterprise geodatabase</title>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I just finished &amp;nbsp;authorizing my sever licence and went on to update the&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;ArcSDE enterprise geodatabase license, when i try to upload the ECP file that was generated i get the warning that it is an "Invalid authorization file".&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;Here are the steps i followed&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;log on to the machine running AGS&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;Use the Software Authorization tool to authorize my sever using the provsioning file (prvc)&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;Navigate to the&amp;nbsp;ESRI\License10.4\sysgen folder&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;copy and rename the keycodes file with the ECP extension&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;copy the ECP file to my desktop&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;connect to the database using my established admin connection&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;upload the ECP&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;and get the "&lt;SPAN&gt;Invalid authorization file"&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;i even tried restarting my server.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;and here is what is authorized&amp;nbsp;by my prvc file&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;arcsdeserver&lt;BR /&gt;svrenterprise&lt;BR /&gt;arcgisserver&lt;BR /&gt;schematicssvr&lt;BR /&gt;capacitysvr_4&lt;BR /&gt;svradvanced&lt;BR /&gt;3dserver&lt;BR /&gt;spatialserver&lt;BR /&gt;networkserver&lt;BR /&gt;imageextserver&lt;BR /&gt;interopserver&lt;BR /&gt;jtxserver&lt;BR /&gt;geostatserver&lt;BR /&gt;highwayssvr&lt;BR /&gt;datareviewersvr&lt;BR /&gt;geoeventsvr&lt;BR /&gt;portal_50&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;any&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN style="color: #333333; font-size: 14px;"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;thoughts?&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;edit one:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;When i log on to ArcGIS Sever Manger and check the ArcGIS Software Authorization tab it show the software as not being updated despite being told that it was successful &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hi Randall,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;You shouldn't have to rename the keycodes file to keycodes.ecp.&amp;nbsp; Remove the extension from the keycodes file and try authorizing your geodatabase again.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

Could you please confirm that are you trying to authorize the geodatabase using the provision file (.prvc) or with the ECP file.&lt;BR /&gt;2.       <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;In that case, rename/delete the keycode file in Esri Folder.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Then authorize ArcGIS Server again by Offline method (Authorize at Esri's Website or by email to receive your authorization file).&amp;nbsp;Use the ECP file to authorize ArcGIS Server and for updating your enterprise GDB.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;If the issue persists, you might need to check for valid license keycodes (The keycodes in the PRVC file would have expired.)&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
