I am using ArcGIS for Server 10.2.2 Enterprise with SQL Server 2012 with Database Authentication. Our Enterprise Geodatabase is one of many databases inside our SQL Server Instance.

I want to have multiple users connect to the Enterprise Geodatabase from ArcCatalog using ArcGIS for Desktop Basic. I have one user name and one password. It is the admin user name and password. I would prefer not to give this out to all our users.

How can I set up the security settings to allow for each user to use their individual network username and password to connect, and not have them all use the admin user name and password?

If you can add Windows groups to the SQL instance for authentication you can just do that and keep them as connect and view only, which is all you can do with Desktop basic.

Add logins and users to SQL Server—Help | ArcGIS Desktop

Geodatabase functionality in ArcGIS Desktop Basic—ArcGIS Help | ArcGIS Desktop

I know this help is for 10.5.x, but the same principals would apply.
