I am using JNI for accessing the File Geodatabase API. Take a look at https://sourceforge.net/projects/jfilegdbexplore/. The edu.filegdb.core package contains some Java classes using the JNI based library named filegeodatabasecore. But, it's only a small subset of the API's functionality.

I am looking to do so on Linux (Ubuntu and Redhat) and would like to share approaches, problems, etc. if anyone is interested.

- Gavin
