Modern Policing Using ArcGIS Pro - Exercise 8e - Unable to Complete Lesson

I am using ArcGIS Pro 2.9.0 and I'm having difficulty completing Exercise 8e: Create a model to create and calculate attribute fields. The problems start when I try to create the variable Create Field Properties under the "Rename processes, create variables, and set parameters" section. I assume there are some changes to the instructions per version updates, but I'm currently stumped.

Also as a note to @EsriPress, since students are opting for digital textbooks more often, Section Numbering would be especially helpful in "Modern Policing". The exercise section titles are quite long and not efficient for guiding students to a particular point in the text. Plus, the book is missing an index!

What's the issue? Currently I think only someone with the book would know what you're referring to - which narrows down your audience.

Thanks for the feedback on the book structure.

Sometimes a newly created variable will be obscured in the model by an existing element, try clicking the Auto Layout button on the ribbon. If you still have problems, can you give me a bit more detail on the issue and the step?
