In order to make my maps look a bit more interesting I was thinking about having some circular data frames to highlight certain areas of my map in the layout window.

Has anyone been able to do this?

Thanks

I recently used the Clip to Shape function for a Data Frame in 10.1:

http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//00s90000000q000000

The caveat here is that using this blocked my ability to display labels. I poked around with this problem a bit, but wasn't able to figure it out. If anyone knows the trick to getting labels to display when clipping a Data Frame to a shape, please share.

Thanks!

Gregory

In the dataframe properties go to Frame. There you can put the Rounding to 100% which will give you a circular frame. But, the dataframe remains square or rectangular.
Scott

Great thanks geomanscott that works a treat!

However I now want the extent indicator to also be round so it matches the areas I've highlighted on my map.

When I set Rounding to 100% in Extent Indicator Frame Properties the extent indicator remains square :S
