Thank you for your reply. After reading Ted's response and talking with Esri I will most likely be moving forward with the migration to Asp.Net. Your response also helps and is something I will reference in my continued meetings with management.

This is a follow-up to a question I posted earlier: https://community.esri.com/thread/195237-migrating-from-classic-asp-to-a-new-framework

I am looking for a new framework and was basing my decision on the assumption that since classic asp is not supported, asp.net must also not be supported. After talking with a colleague I realized that my assumption might be incorrect.

I would love to hear confirmation on whether or not asp.net is still supported by Esri. And if it is still supported, how long will it be supported; 1 year, 5 years?

Yes ESRI supports ASP.NET. I do not foresee ESRI dropping .NET support anytime within 5 years (As long as Microsoft supports it). ASP.NET is only a flavor of the .NET framework

I would agree - ArGIS is Windows software and .NET is at the forefront of Windows development. Classic ASP is long dead, and Esri dropping support is just following industry trends - ASP.NET MVC is the latest and greatest. .NET is huge in the enterprise world, which is Esri's bread and butter. I would not expect Esri to discontinue .NET support until Microsoft does.

Thank you for your reply. Sorry for the delay in responding to your response.

I have since spoken with ESRI and used your caveat about Microsoft support. ESRI does not have a team that can answer specific asp.net questions but the framework in conjuction with Javascript API and ArcGIS server is supported. I have a followup meeting planned with ESRI to discuss project specifics. The combined feedback from you and ESRI has been reassuring and something I have been able to take to management to support the migration.
