topic raw polygon data for topological contour maps in Developers Questions

Here's what I'm looking for, to start: raw topological elevation data. When rendered, it's just concentric, top-down elevation contours. Probably in the form of simple polygons. Best source of data would be terrain with lots of ups and downs, such as a mountain range.

Is it possible for me to acquire such simple, raw data?

Thank you.
Jack Ritter
jack@houseofwords.com
