Create Replica using Arc 10 client against Arc 9.3 geodatabases.

At one of our sites we have upgraded our clients to Arc 10, while leaving the geodatabases at 9.3. Clients connect to the gdbs using direct connect.

Previously we were able to create and synchronize 1 way replicas both using ArcMap and programmatically using ArcObjects. Since the clients have been upgraded we get an error similar to the following when we try to create a 1 way replica. We get the error whether we are using ArcMap 10 or programmatically the ArcObjects 10 SDK.

Fatal Error
Create replica errored: Version not found [SEU_GIS_ELEC.PWZOPEX_TO_PWZTCM_11], Error Code: -2147467259

Apparently ESRI has said that you can create replicas in 9.3 geodatabases using a 10 client, but I am skeptical. Can anyone say definitively that this scenario is supported?
