Hello Everyone,

I am trying to utilize the Export to CAD geoprocessing tool in ModelBuilder. The first step is exporting data to a file geodatabase. During this process I eliminate sensitive attribution and features through an expression and Field Mapping. I then want to export these results

My problem is, the Export to CAD tool requires that the input data exist prior to running. Essentially eliminating the possibility of using the Export to CAD tool to export results of a previous process in ModelBuilder! I'm trying to design this toolset in the most efficient manner possible, so eliminating the need for multiple tools is important.

Does anyone know a work around?

Thanks,
Shaun

I am requesting from our GIS department to have 3D contour lines exported from ArcGIS into a usable 3d Cadd file. I was hoping to use them in either Autocad or MicroStation (*.dgn, *.dwg, or *.dxf)

Not being an ArcGIS user, is this even possible? If it is possible, does anyone have any step by step instructions on "How To".

Sorry I have not responded sooner. I believe if you run the Export to Cad tool, the elevation data is retained in the exported DWG. We (GIS) have ran the exports by our engineers, and they seem to find no issues with it. I would also recommend the ArcGIS for AutoCAD extension.

Make sure and add a numeric field called "Elevation" to your feature classes prior to export to CAD, CAD doesn't seem to recognize the typical "contour" field from GIS...
