Managing selection over multiple layers

Hello,

I have created a selection of features from several layers and am looking for a way to export or save the selected features into one featureclass.

You could try the following steps.

1. Create a new Feature class with same geometry as other features (and also same schema if you want to copy the attributes as well). Add the Feature Class to ArcMap, if not already added.

2. Start Editing for the blank layer.

3. Perform the selection for multiple layers, as you mentioned, if required.

4. Copy-Paste using the corresponding icon in Standard Toolbar.

Clicking Copy will copy all the selected Features. Then Click Paste. Choose the blank Layer as the Target Layer for the Paste option.

You can save the selections using Copy Features, then Merge then into a new feature class if you don't want to do this in an edit session. This obviously could be done in a model if you need to repeat it. The caveat that the geometry needs to be the same is without question but the Merge enables you to control fields that may differ in field name between the two sets. See Field Mapping

Thanks Jayanta, the layer schemas were different in this instance. I will use your method though when schema are standardised.
