GDB_ITEMS, etc.) are not found.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Verify that this geodatabase has in fact been upgraded from 9.3.1 to 10.0 as you stated.&amp;nbsp; Connect to the geodatabase from ArcCatalog using a direct-connection and right-click the connection.&amp;nbsp; Go to "Properties and check the "Upgrade Geodatabase" button for information on the status of the ArcGIS client and ArcSDE geodatabase compatibility.&amp;nbsp; &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Also, verify that the ArcSDE release that you have installed is consistent with the database version that you have upgraded to.&amp;nbsp; This should be consistent with the ArcGIS client that was used to perform the upgrade.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;- Jon&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

Run&lt;BR /&gt;the Upgrade Geodatabase tool to install/upgrade system tables (-450).&lt;BR /&gt;Refer ArcSDE installation guide for instructions.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;-I checked all Criteria listed in this technical article: FAQ:&amp;nbsp; Why does ArcSDE service for Oracle fail to start?: &lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;A href="http://support.esri.com/en/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/25574"&gt;http://support.esri.com/en/knowledgebase/techarticles/detail/25574&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;-I installed the SP4 for ArcGIS Desktop 10&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;-Upgrade Geodatabase again&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;-The ArcSDE service was started successfully&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Have a good day,&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;Bertrand&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;You can't use an SP3 Desktop to upgrade the ArcSDE then install ArcSDE 10 SP4 without&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;using a SP4 Desktop to upgrade again.&amp;nbsp; If you want a 10-SP4 ArcSDE, you should upgrade&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;the desktop to SP4 first.&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;- V&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
