geometry storage

hi

I want to change dbtune parameter for geometry_storage from st_geometry to sdo_geometry.
ArcSDE installed on windows 2008 R2, oracle client is 64-bit.
I have used sdedbtune command but not succesful to change geometry_storage
Please help me..

Please provide:

A complete description of the software environment (exact database

The exact contents of the DBTUNE file you attempted to upload

The exact command you used to upload the DBTUNE changes

The exact keyword you used on subsequent feature class creation

The exact output of 'sdelayer -o describe_long' on the created layer

hi

(1) Oracle server 11.2.0.1.0 on Redhat linux 5.

(2) Oracle client (64 bit), ArcSDE 10.1 installed on Windows 2008 R2.

(3) ArcGIS desktop 10.1, Oracle client (32 bit) on Windows 7 (direct connection is succesful with oracle serever).

The following command is used where ArcSDE is installed.

sdedbtune -o alter -k defaults -P geometry_storage -v sdo_geometry -s 194.61.63.132 -D newdb -u sde

ArcSDE 10.1
Attribute Administration Utility
-----------------------------------------------------

Error: Entry for SDE instance not found in services file (-102).
Error: Could not create a connection on server 194.61.63.132, for user sde.

Hi Syed,

Your command looks correct, you will just need to specify the '-i' parameter, which will be the ArcSDE service name, port number, or direct connection information. Ex:

-i sde:oracle11g:ORCL

ORCL above is the Oracle instance.

It has been a long time since Service Pack 1 to ArcGIS 10.1 was
released, and the Quality Improvement Patch is getting long
in the tooth as well. Both should be applied to all ArcGIS 10.1
installations.
