Split Line and assign values

I'm splitting a very long line by a point layer (which worked) but now I'm manually assigning the values in the point layer to the line segments. Wondering if there is a faster way to do this with code or some other tool?

The longer story is that I'm designing a streambed and the points represent known elevations along the channel and the line segments have an upstream and downstream value. I'm having to manually enter the up and downstream values into the line attribute table and I'd love to just assign the point values automatically. I have over 200 points to assign. Would love any feedback.

But if not, wouldn't a spatial join get you part way at least?
