Based on this sentence:

After you install ArcGIS 10 Service Pack 1, you must upgrade your ArcSDE geodatabase. Instructions on how to upgrade can be found in the Upgrade Geodatabase (Data Management) help topic.

If we do a Desktop upgrade, and no SDE upgrade initially, we still upgrade our SDE geodatabases, GDB i get, but SDE as well?

We are looking to start testing on Monday of 3 desktops on SP1, but we are planning on leaving SDE at 10 no SP, and so my confusion is it reads like I have to upgrade (SDE regardless) when installing desktop/server (GIS Server), so, can I leave my SDE at 10, no Sp, install SP everywhere else, upgrade all File GDBs, but leave SDE as is and continue to work with ArcMap, etc... Plan to upgrade SDE, but later after we push out SP for Desktop and GIS Services.

Wow, long time Russell, how is the GDB team doing, I miss you guys 🙂
