Snapping tips stop displaying

In the middle of an edit session the snapping tips decide to stop displaying. I go in and reset the tips under options, stop and resart editor, show vertices and everything else to jog them loose but to no avail. The only way to get them back is to close and reopen the mxd. Is this happening to others and is there a fix or work around?

I found that often the snapping tips only show at the middle of the screen. Try and rearrange what you're snapping to so it is in the centre of the screen.

You can also use the trace tool, then you wouldn't need snapping 🙂

Unfortunately working in the middle of the screen did not solve it. Also, trace is of little good when I am trying to snap one point to another. The inconsistency leads me to believe that the bug can be corrected. There are other ways but the tool tips should work as intended.
