I am having a problem with the very simple method of splitting GPS tracks (line shapefiles) to points. I do not use code, so am reliant on the editor toolbar. The edit pointer will not select the line. Even if I manually highlight the line in question, the toolbar does not give me the split option.

I have done this before, but cannot remember what I am missing out.
Please help!

If the split tool does not activate when you select the line then it is not a feature class in your editing workspace. REstart your edit session and find the right workspace (gdb, folder etc.) containing it.

H
