      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;what type of field was created?&amp;nbsp; You did this in a table for a shapefile or a featureclass and not some other format I trust.&amp;nbsp; In any event, try &lt;A href="http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/tools/data-management-toolbox/add-geometry-attributes.htm" title="http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/tools/data-management-toolbox/add-geometry-attributes.htm"&gt;Add Geometry Attributes—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop&lt;/A&gt; &lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;if you are having problems, it offers more options on the coordinate system and other information, although&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt; &lt;A href="http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/tools/data-management-toolbox/add-xy-coordinates.htm" title="http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/tools/data-management-toolbox/add-xy-coordinates.htm"&gt;Add XY Coordinates—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop&lt;/A&gt; should work fine if the the field type and data type are correct and you know the coordinate system of the input data and the data frame.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
