Hello,

I have unfortunately upgraded to 10 and am having issues tracing cotour lines.

I have checked 'Use classic snapping' which has made it slightly useable now and have copied the few contours i require to a new shapefile. However it keeps coming up with the trace features loading box whenever i pan/zoom, this takes a while until i can carry on tracing. Is there something i am missing?

Thank you for any advice.

James

In version 9 the trace tool would only trace selected features. In version 10 the trace tool will by default attempt to trace on all of the visible features (in the current display extent), thus when the display extent changes the trace needs to 'restart' with the newly visible features. You can alternately use the selection oriented trace behavior (of 9.x) by pressing the Ctrl key when starting the trace (you will need to select the feature(s) you wish to trace). In this case rather than 'restarting' the trace when the display extent changes the trace is 'restarted' when the map selection changes.
