    <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;I have a shapfile with simplified chinese characters.&amp;nbsp; I added a *.cpg (cp936) and the data displayed correctly in ArcMap 10.2.2&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;However, when I copied the shapfile with *.cpg to another computer, which was ArcMap 10.1, the data was not showing properly.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P style="min-height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Is it possible to use the codepage file in ArcMap 10.1?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P style="min-height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Best Regards,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P style="min-height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Amy&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;The cpg file is the same name as the shapefile. Works in ArcMap 10.2.2, but not in ArcMap 10.1&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;A sample shapefile is attached. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
