I am currently drawing a vector shapefile polygon map. I am using the cut polygon tool to divide up my polygon into smaller
polygons. I accidentally deleted one of my polygons thus creating a hole in the middle of my map. I tried using the "trace tool" to fill in the hole but get the error message "cant determine right and left of your determined feature." Why is it doing this? How do
you complete a trace when outlining a hole to fill in that hole in your map?

Draw it in as a line, make sure the line closes. Then convert line to polygon. Then merge or append the new polygon with your existing data.

I would just roughly plot a polygon bigger than the hole you made but smaller than the outside perimeter and merge - using the properties of the original polygon in the merge process - done that one myself a couple of times:)
Mark
