Adding new points to existing shapefile

I maintain a point file of approximately 12,000 locations which I originally geocoded to create the point file. Periodically a few hundred new locations are provided to be added. What is the most efficient way to add the new points and their attributes to my original file?

I like to use the simple data loader for something like that.

Thanks everyone. I am using the Append tool as suggested. It is so interesting the functionality that is available, but only discerned upon a thorough examination of the documentation.
