sde_versions change version owner?

Hi all,

I know this might be a big dangerous but wanted to check if anyone has attempted this and the effect on changing the owner field of a version in the sde_versions table?

The reason i ask is because we are in the need to changing the owner to assist our QA/QC process - so person 1 starts editing and once they complete edits it needs to be send to a checker to verify it so ownership transfers to the second person.

Any thoughts? Or is this a bad and dangerous idea?

This is not supported.

However, why do you need to change ownership for the other person to check the data?

I want to make sure that once they say the version is ready to check that they can't change it anymore until checker is finished checking

Create the Version using the QA person's login.
Make the version PUBLIC and let the editors edit
Once they say the version is ready to check....make the access level PROTECTED.
This makes the version editable for only the QA person. Rest can only connect and view.
