topic 1-band GeoTIFFs makes RGB Mosaic in Data Management Questions

Original User: dkwiens

Can anyone explain to me why the mosaic dataset that I make from 1-band GeoTIFFS results in a mosaic containing 3 bands (picture 1)? Band one contains a full set of my data, properly mosaicked (picture 2). Bands 2 and 3 contain the original data minus overlapping areas (picture 3). Is there some setting I'm missing in the mosaic creation procedure, so that I force it into 1 band?

edit: I think I found it under pixel properties in create new mosaic dataset

See the tool help.

Robert
