topic Working with raster land cover data in Data Management Questions

I'm working with the MRLC data for Virginia - it's raster land cover data. I want to compare the land cover in conservation easements with the land cover in the state as a whole. I have a shape file of the conservation easements in the state. I have clipped the 4 raster bands to the state boundary. They overlap, and I have not been able to find the right way to eliminate the duplicate rasters. That's my first question. Then I want to put all four bands into one dataset, and I am also not having any luck with that. That's number 2. Do I need to convert the raster data to polygons to find the realtionship between land cover and easements? I'm worried that will be too big a file. AND I'm wondering what operation (s) to use to associate the land cover data with each easement polygon. Any guidance is greatly appreciated! I'm working on a project that is beyond the level of training I've had (clearly!)
