If ArcGIS does not regognize the directory as a file geodatabase, then the copy
process has corrupted the data. The safest way to transport file geodatabases
is probably as a zip archive, which will make sure all the files are there and that
they have passed checksum on restoration.

In my experience, 7-zip is *much* faster at compressing and decompressing
zip files than native Windows capabilities.

- V
