Then, using other data I gather, make approximate predictions about how the forest will be in 20 and 40 years due to deforestation. This way I'll show which species will be affected by deforestation.</SPAN><BR /><BR /><SPAN>Here are my questions.</SPAN><BR /><BR /><STRONG>How should I represent the species icons?</STRONG><SPAN> I want to use small images as icons, and preferably they should be in their own layer. What should I use for this? Labels can't be placed in their own layer (afaik) so they won't do what I need.</SPAN><BR /><BR /><STRONG>What should I use as a basemap?</STRONG><SPAN> I'm currently using the </SPAN><A href="http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=f2498e3d0ff642bfb4b155828351ef0e">community topographical map</A><SPAN> but it contains a bit more administrative detail than I'd like (it's okay, but not ideal <span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":slightly_smiling_face:">🙂</span> ).
