Hi,

I have an enterprise SQL Server ArcSDE geodatabase, I have many window group users.

From ArcCatolog, I grant privileges to the goups users, all of them fine are except 2 groups. I got error : Invalid Parameter value passed to function.

I could not figure out why, but these two groups have the longest user name, including the domain name, total are 33 character.

Is there a maximum username length restriction in ArcSDE Geodatabase user?

I changed the groups names, made them shorter, the problem solved.

ArcSDE generally uses lowest common denominator. Oracle's limit is 30 characters, but
ArcSDE limits the SE_MAX_OWNER_LEN to 32 characters (31 plus terminator), so it's
still possible to generate groups which are not RDBMS-independent.
